The antennas we tested while Johan and Jonni were in Nangi village for the first time in 2001.

This was the first set up on the tree at the Relay 1 in spring 2002.
small160
This is the relay tree now with two parabolic antennas - one antenna poiting toward Nangi and the other to Relay station 2.

small29
We tested the big and small dish antenna on the ground at Relay 1 to see if we could connect to Pokhara. Johan and Mahabir are seen in front of the antennas in 2002.

Tarasing
Tarasing is the incharge of Relay Station 1. He has gotten elementary school education. But he can operate the computer now.
relayhouse
This is the relay house at the relay station 1. You can see two solar panels on the roof that charge the batteries. One person always lives here to take care of the station.

dishantenna
This picture is from the first phase. you can see two people setting up the antenna, battery box, solar panel and relay box in the tree. We are still using the tree.

relaybox
This was the first relay box made of wood and thin metal sheet that we put on the tree at Relay 1 in 2002. See how the radios, hub, power adaptors were put in different chambers of the box.
towardspokhara
This is the second tree with parabolic grid antenna pointing towards Pokhara. A staff of the school is adjusting it.
pullingdish
It was not an easy task to pull the big 8 ft. dish antenna up the tree. We used ropes to pull the dish up the tree - 2002
windgenerator
This is the 400 w wind generator at Relay 1 for back up power. On the background you can see the relay tree with two parabolic dish antennas pointing to Nangi and Relay 2.
smalldish
This is the small dish antenna we used in Nangi with Dlink 900 AP radio in 2004
crewtorelay1
These were the crew who carried the equipment and supplies to relay 1 for the second testing in 2002
mahabir
Mahabir is sitting at the bottom of the relay tree at Relay 1 and testing the connection to Pokhara and Nangi using a laptop - 2003
smalldishtesting
We also tried in 2002 to connect to Pokhara from Relay 1 with this small dish antenna 3 ft in diameter. The reception was not so good that time. Therefore we decided to use the bigger dish.
